To help defray the costs of the manual recount in the election protests in some local positions in the province of Biliran now filed in the Central Office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Manila and at the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) in Congress, a newly organized cause-oriented group in Biliran province launched a fund raising campaign recently.

Sister Erlinda G. Lanigao, SFCC, the one who is spearheading the Manual Recount Fund-Raising Campaign together with Crisantema “Timmy” T. Pastor said that the newly organized cause-oriented group named Biliran Kawsa, a replica of Citizens Watch for Good Governance newly organized in Manila composed of different cause-oriented groups, aimed to raise funds through the support of the people to help defray the costs and other expenses that will be incurred in the manual recount that will be conducted in line with the election protests filed at the concerned agencies of the government.

Sister Linda as she is fondly called clarified that the objective of the group is to seek for truth and justice so as to give peace to Biliranons who are still clamoring that they were cheated of their votes in the last May 10, 2010 elections.

She added that the conduct of manual recount would in one way or the other benefit both parties since its official result would now put to rest doubts regarding the results in some of the local positions in the province of Biliran during the May 10, 2010 elections.

Sister Linda said that it will cost P1,500 per ballot box that will be opened for manual recount and she estimated that the whole amount that will be incurred will cost from P750,000 to P1 M including the transport of ballots and fees for the committee who will conduct the manual recount.

Along this line, Sister Linda appealed to all Biliranons here and abroad who are willing to participate in this cause to deposit their donations to ATM Account Number 493-3-49320911-7 (Metrobank-Naval Branch) bearing the account name of Sister Erlinda G. Lanigao or Crisantema T. Pastor.

She also advised to those who will share their blessings to give their names and the amount deposited by texting cell number 09164510839 for due recognition.
